The XX's Island

Strangely enough, watching The XX's Island Video... I feel like the vid is describing my life.

Awesome Vid btw =)

Just found out that they are a Brit 'minimalist indie rock group'. LoL! all the talk about minimalism with Gracia about fashion and stuff... for some reason I find humour in that.

Speaking of which, didn't quite expect the members of the XX to look like they do... Been listening to them since Sept of last year but just got around to check their video today.

anyways, there's this comment on this video
"if this song was a pancake, it would be a good pancake"... by anonymousOffical.

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?

Grey's Tribute?

Time: 11.27am

Date: 5 April 2011
Location: My Quarter in Marshyland.

Somehow I felt like Grey's season 7 episode 18 felt like a tribute to the previous seasons by using the soundtracks.

not that I'm complaining, actually it's nice to have a change.

they have nice voice too =))

Your House

Time: 1:50pm

Date: 19 August 2010
Location: Comp Lab, Howitt

Been listening to Alanis Morissette again. lol, she was the best new artist of 1996. it was so long ago.

anyways, I always thought this song is so eerily pretty... you can almost feel the pain in her voice. the Live version doesn't do justice the haunting voice she has in the recorded version.. just her naked voice, without accompaniments.

Your Face by The Frames

Time: 4:52am.

sometimes it makes me think, what can I offer...

which.. is nothing much.

that's... sad, really.

a person who was so full of potential yet... hmm....

anyways, I'm looking everywhere for an MP3 version of this song...

Your Face by The Frames.

such a hauntingly good tune.

Annoying song.

Location: Matheson Lib, Clayton.
Time: 6:36pm.

OMGGG... Starstruck by 3OH!3 is officially bugging me.

The more I try to run away from it the more I hear it on the radio. Like seriously...

I don't hate the WHOLE song, just this particular verse of the song...

Tight jeans, double d's makin' me go (whistles),
All the people on the street know (whistles),
Iced out, lit-up make the kids go (whistles),
All the people on the street know (whistles),

... annoying. The sad part is, I actually quite like the rhythm. The whole whistling part just make this song unbearable.

Post-Gaudy and 911.

Location: How5!, Clayton.
Time: 10:30am

well, gaudy was fun... surprisingly. seeing that it was held in MRS Function room.. at some point I kinda forgot that we're still in MRS =) erm, thanks davyn for being my date, u were great. and everyone never looked prettier~

anyhoo, I just saw BSB's new MV Straight Through My Heart and OMG, it is SOOOOOOOO weird. The music seemed one of the fast-paced song from their backstreet back's album... What I can't make out is.... WHAT's WITH that Vampire thing in that video?

It's like trying to ride the wave of the whole Twillight craze... owh did I mention that it seemed like they were trying a little too hard?

However, I cannot deny the fact that they looked much much better than they were during the in-between period (still not sure if I meant in-between their period after I Want It That Way or in between Jobs...).

So yea. I should be busier than ever... the Second wave of Assignment's coming =~~ (

Wish me luck....

Little Melodical Moments~

Time: 7:44am
Location: How!5

lol, I've spent too much time meddling with my imeem music list...

Apart of being reaffirmed about the fact that time do flies for the idle, I 'discovered' a few new artists~

Anya Marina and Soko... among the others. I really love Anya's "Sociopath"... such a cute song with a hard-to-associate name (er, mind the vid, listen to the background music...). Just like Lily Allen's well-received "Fuck You", which was butchered by the FCC.

Talking about cute songs, here's one by Soko. Unlike Lily Allen's thought-provoking lyrics, Take My Heart's almost toooooooooo innocently sweeeeet =)

These sweet uncorrupted thoughts remind me of a time when I dream of nothing but princesses and fairytales... and when kids are safe to roam and play freely on the once peaceful streets of Ipoh...

p/s: I cycled to Coles with Zax yesterday night and saw these while I have this HUGE craving for choc cookies... This is as close as I can get to Pipi for the moment... =~~ (

pp/s: before you get your hopes high, please wipe that stupid grin off your face coz I'm not gona eat the dog food la you doof... you know who you are... swt...

and yea, I'm sorry but I'm not exactly thrilled that you guys are moving out...

...though it can be a good thing for you peeps.

*sniff* *sniff*

I know I may sound selfish by not being supportive but...

...who's gona eat the dog food then? =(

Listening and burning the Midnight Oil~

Time: 4:26am
Location: Comp Room, How!2.

Studying alone in the computer room of Howitt, alone, reminds me of the days I spent in Sun-U Residence =)

The occasional visits from Ian, the residence security (aka the sandman, coz he's always the one chasing us off from the basketball court at 11pm -- hope the nickname sticks =))... The Sun-U security guards had easier jobs, they had survilliance cameras in the study rooms.

The cold/crisp air in the room. Ofcoz, in Sun-U, it would have been from the aircon but here... it's ofcoz from the outside. I especially enjoy the air outside Sun-U residence around 6am. When the sun's still not out yet but it's not as cold as 5am... remind me of the days that I used to swim at around 7:30am to avoid the crowds. Something about the still of the night that made me feel serene...

Anyhooo, it was really cold yesterday night while we were playing basketball. Well, probably coz I tried the "Chieh Ai" (always going outdoors without a jacket...).

LoL, anyhoo, I'm checking out this band called the Midnight Oil, apparently it's like Oasis in Australia, except being really political.

So, technically I'm listening to Midnight Oil while burning the Midnight Oil =)

Can't Keep MY Eyes Off of You...

Location: SF~

whoa... this like the first time I blog in SF.

anyhoo... my heart just melt with I heard this song.

speaking of which, there's something fishy going on here.

either Haffiz's impaired taste in music has improved tremendously or he's been possessed by some devil with BADDD musical sense all these while...

anyhow, here's the clip. Damien Rice's The Blower's Daughter from the movie Closer...

darn, now I have to start worry about my INT...

A Meeting With the (few) Shan Dong

Location: Bro's Room, @ Home.

What was supposed to be a short and sweet rendezvous turned out to be a (almost) 3-hour-long laughing down memory lane... In short, putting 4 members of Shan Dong clan together can be pretty scary... Think we actually scared away some people there in that Ipoh Garden East's Kopitiam.

Anyways, seeing them again suddenly brought me back to the days when we were talking/crapping daily in our 5sc1 classroom (Block E of PGS), school canteen, prefect room; every Monday and Thursday in Maziah's place; every Tuesday in KC Leong's tuition center... It's hard NOT to notice that we've... grown up.

Suddenly everyone's talking about what course they'll be taking, which uni they're interested in, etc; While I was driving back (yes, the whole driving thing and the fact that we can meet till 1 am are among the many visible signs that we've grown) I can't help but see how would we be like in 10 - 20 years time?

Would anyone be married by then? If yes, who?

Would we look all weird looking like OLs then?

I hate to state the obvious but would we even have the time/chance to get together?

I really treasure my friends and the friendships we have...

And So, I came back eagerly to watch How I Met Your Mother's Season 3 Episode 13... There's this scene **Spoiler Alert!** where Stella (Sarah Chalke aka Elliot from Scrubs)was asked on a 2-minute-date by Ted Mosby (not the porn star... inside joke for those who watched the earlier eps of HIMYM) and this song came up...

The song struck me as being REALLY familiar (and needless to say, heart-warmingly romantic) and then I realized that I've heard the Garbage's version of it more than a couple of times, but this guy version, has a certain naivety and the simple Simon and Garfunkel way of performing this song, possesses a slight difference to the way that Garbage presented -- This song almost seemed innocent. (And come to think of it, it reminded me of V Mars, the scene where V was walking pass the pool and started to think of the time when Duncan & her were an item...)

THEN, while I was trying to get this song on imeem(sang by Elliot Smith ofcourse), I stumbled upon this song titled (coincidentally) Thirteen by Ben Kweller (Click to watch the vid - no off, he looked like a nerd - see how a correct hairstyle can do to a person?!)

For you who are too lazy to watch it in youtube, I embedded it here...

ANYWAYS, way WAY off topic here, if I were to put a song in the background if we were to make a film outa the little gathering we had, both 'Thirteens' would definitely be my top 2 choices among the haystack.

"...Won't you let me
walk you home from school..."

Random...

Location: On my very very comfortable Sofa @ Home, Ipoh.

Wanted to eat Looi Cha (the veg soup rice thing) this afternoon, guess what I saw in Ipoh?

SO, Ok, the 3rd pics' kinda irrelevant... It's just that I haven't been in Ipoh Garden East for some time and was kinda surprised to see something being erected in the wasted lot (which was previously used as illegal parking lot).

Anyways, all I wanted to say was since when simple laksa cost RM 3.00, non-complicated dry/wet curry became RM 3.30 and the normal Chee Cheong Fun with curry chicken cost RM 3.00? Ipoh used to be my personal paradise for cheap, good quality food... What Happened?

People, especially with the recent increase in the costs of flour, petrol and other daily necessities, some unethical hawkers took advantage to increase about RM 0.10 - RM 0.30 on everything they sell. RM 0.30 may look small to you rich people, I believe that this will definitely be amplified in more urbanized areas like KL and Sunway. Oh, speaking of which, the condo seized this opportunity to increase the rental next year from the current RM 530 to RM 580 per month for every student staying in twin sharing rooms.

Yes, it's not a typo. RM 580 per person in twin sharing room, which add up to RM 1160 per room.

Sad right?! It's a vicious cycle!!

Yes, I am this free. I even made a chart about it.

So do u think it's the right time for me to ask for a raise from my parents?

Anyhoo, since I'm being all random here, watching Linkin Park's new vid while listening to Paramore's Crush Crush Crush, I might as well upload some random pics.

My Huge Meds in Yen's Hands.

Freedom 1: After INT paper.

Freedom 2: Candid

Freedom 3: Cheeese. Too bad nic and yen missed it.

This we took in Central Market Annexe where the Freedom Film Fest took place.
Cute huh?

Pool of ants. Grossssssss.

I saw this while walking from Pink with Helen after dinner.

Eggy Mess! In Tesco Extra, Ipoh.

Find it really interesting...
Oh, this is being sold in Tesco Extra if any one would wanna buy it...

p/s: This is really funny. Thanks Winfred~ http://www.bestofthemisc.com/photoshops/madness-this-is-photochoooooopz-hilarious-300-photoshops/

Sleepless Nights...

Location: B12.3a, Sunway.

Recently I have trouble sleeping at night. Toss and turn all night I know that I'm so physically tired but mentally awake. I'm sure many of you out there faced this kinda situation before right?

The thing is that I actually brought it upon myself. I sleep too much during the day and that's probably not so healthy. If mom's reading this she'll be saying something like 'tsk tsk, see, I told you so'.

Having a brother around the house kinda explored me to a lot of teenage stuff. Not to say that I was too chicken to play computer without my parents' approval in the middle of the night til the break of dawn, bro taught me all these stuff among others... So technically, I was really innocent.. Innocent you know...

Anyhoo, I like to fall asleep in a noisy environment. It's weird I know. I think I understand why I always fall asleep in class since my primary school days. It's like automatically when the teachers started talking, I feel the surge of dizziness, then before i know it, my eyelids feel like a thousand pounds and my ears will close it's gap...

Maybe that's why I like to fall asleep infront on the very very cozy couch in front of the tv at home. Normally when my parents are not in or when I watch tv in the middle of the night when everyone's asleep, I always tune in to Channel V or mtv coz I like vibrations of the sound and I don't like to wake up in a quiet environment.

Here in Sunway, when Cynthia's not in, I'll start filling up my playlist with whatever tv series I have on my pc and start playing till I fall asleep.

my prob is, is this even healthy?

Coz i heard from somewhere that people need to rest in a quiet and dark environment to improve their quality of sleep. The thing is I don't have problem falling asleep at anytime of the day but will feel totally guilty after waking up to notice all the precious time I've slept away.
Anyways, I'll try to stick to my 12am bedtime for the sake of my exams.

On the flip side, I'm not so health conscious to begin with. I'm doing tons of other unhealthy stuff already, one more won't hurt.

Actually, unlike in Ipoh, I have no real motivation in waking up early in the morning. At home, I'll wake up at 8 something to bring Pipi out for a spin to enjoy the beauty of nature while they are still fresh~

I'm talking crap. and it's only 9 something at night. Darn... With xsocam still down, I'm forced to study... STUDY... haiz...

Anyhow, seeing that my ex-156 roommates were all affected by the curly craze, I've been deciding i f I should curl my hair since 2005 (PGS was really strict on this matter, no curls nor re-bonding allowed). I kinda fell asleep last night unaware that my hair's still in a bun, which is how I usually keep it at home. So woke up with a great surprise~

Yes, still in my PJs. Just woke up.

So, what do u think?

I just realised that tomorrow's Sunday already! Like whoa, a week has passed. Soon I'll be graduating and after that, getting married to Brad Pitt and settle down with 10 kids in his gorgeous mansion.

And so, I've been so busy playing scrabble these days~ What can I say, I lurve scrabble, unfortunately, still not very good at it. It's rare for my to score above 400 ok? (I'm not Albert Khor... He's my mentor in Taylor's.)

So for remembrance I took some snap shot~ hahahaha...
(and in one of the games, I managed to pull out 'Pink'~~)

LoL, don't start Judging me already... (Click to enlarge pics)

Since we're already on the topic of posting random pics, here's 2 more.

I have no idea why did I find it so hysterically amusing at the point of purchase. It's nothing special actually. I still prefer Ring ring and Cheezel at the same price range.

Ooo... this Milky Way Choc. From my crush. But he's like SOOO 3 months ago~ haha. I think it would mean more to me if he didn't just distribute it to everyone in his class...

Oh here's some love for everyone to last for the cold and short weekend ahead. (Apart from wanting to say that I've deleted all Alicia Key's songs I have with me coz i suddenly find her voice very annoying...) I remembered Bro voted this song as one of the greatest love song ever. It's hard not to be ok? This song "Elephant Love Medley" from Moulin Rouge is the portmanteaus of the best parts from the best love songs of all time!

initially I thought it's just coz he played ewan mcgregor's role in a play on Moulin Rouge in TOA that made him love this song so much. 2 years plus since I've first heard of this song, I think it's beginning to grow on me, seeing that I don't even like it in the beginning.

To me, it might not be the greatest love song, but it's Romantic~

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8Q8hGChV10

oh, so sorry, can't find the exact footage from the movie. Atleast this song is clear..

if we have this today, would we all be nude in the future?

Sure, sure, they are rich now coz everyone's buying their lingerie but boy would Victoria's Secret go out of business in the near future...

Location: B12.3A,3, Sunway.

I still remember a simpler time when people wear underwear on the inside and make jokes like "Do you wanna be Superman or Spiderman? Just Wear Your Undies on the Outside!" Then we'll be greeted by waves of laughter... I just feel sad that my children, my grandchildren, my great grandchildren etc. won't be able to understand my lame jokes anymore. That's all I am, I'm made up of lame jokes. To paraphrase myself, without lame jokes, I'm nothing.

So here's the deal from New York Times,

Now It’s Nobody’s Secret
Published: October 25, 2007

Lingerie items have become “display pieces,” said Stephanie Solomon, the fashion director of Bloomingdale’s. Corsets, slips, panties and camisoles are as extravagant in their design, and as coveted, as Louboutin platforms or a YSL tote.

Christian Dior for spring 2008;

Lingerie’s cachet as a sexy, emphatically visible component of a woman’s outfit has contributed to rising sales. According to NPD Group, the market research firm, sales of bras, panties, slips, corsets and even old-school relics like garter belts, climbed to $10.6 billion for the 12-month period ending in July, a 10 percent jump over the previous 12 months. Clearly, the category known quaintly as intimate apparel has climbed to the top of women’s shopping lists.

Louis Vuitton for spring 2008;

“What is really driving the growth of the business,” said Marshal Cohen, the chief retail analyst of NPD, “is that showing off your lingerie has become very much a fashion trend.

Marc Jacobs model in 2007.

To women of all ages, visible skivvies are all but scandal proof.

Anyways, I know I always talk about my love for British stuff like their sexy accent and majestic architectures. Then I stumble upon Kate Nash. (I used to like Lily Allen but recently realise that I feel headache whenever I listen to her songs, like real headache, not speaking figurative here.)

About Kate Nash, I find her accent to be really funny! Unlike smooth double '0' Seven's accent, her Irish-ish slang is funny. This song totally accentuated the weirdness (imo) in her choppy pronunciation. I find it really interesting and amusing. I like her voice though. Maybe that's why I feel so happy and relaxed after listening to her songs.

(this is not the live version, clearer)

Oh, This Song - LDN is a Victim -- Parody of Kate Nash's awful awful Caroline's a Victim -- (allegedly) aggravated Lily Allen and that she 'lambasted the guy who wrote/created this song'. Hmm, I don't get it.

Well, what do i know, I'm just a Malaysian.

Anyone has this song?

Reborn and shivering
Settled on new terrain
Unsure, unkind, insane
This faint and shaky hour

Day one, day one
Start over again
Step one, step one
I'm barely making sense
For now I'm faking it
'Til I'm psuedo-making it
From scratch, begin again
But this time I as "I"
And not as "we"

Gun-shy and shivering
Tear it without a hand
Feign brave but still intent
Little and hardly here

Day one, day one
Start over again
Step one, step one
I'm barely making sense
For now I'm faking it
'Til I'm psuedo-making it
From scratch, begin again
But this time I as "I"
And not as "we"

Eyes wet,
Toward wide open freight
If God is taking bias,
I pray he wants to lose

Day one, day one
Start over again
Step one, step one
I'm barely making sense
For now I'm faking it
'Til I'm psuedo-making it
From scratch, begin again
But this time I as "I"
And not as "we"

p/s: I think the start of every episode of House (what people call the introduction thing that I don't know) is lame. the series' interesting though.
pp/s: This episode (Ep 4 Season 4) is one of the best eps i think. It involved dog, Kal Penn's in it... The only things I miss were the 3 musketeers.

Melodies of the Moment Betty Curse Edition.

Location: B12.3a. Sunway.

There's this band which caught my attention lately. They can be one of the many many many specimens of Japanization of the West. What's Japanization you ask? (this is the 'segue' meant by Julian Lee?)

You know, those crazy hair with crazily HUGE amount of eyeliner applied with crazy pom-pom-attached everything (you know pompom-ish tank top, pompom-ish thing with t-shirt, pompom-ish skirt with tights......). It's not only that, it's like EVERYONE in their videos have eyeliners. Like if it wasn't for the fact that they were from liverpool, I'd think they were some female version of My Chemical Romance. It's a good thing actually. The songs are dark, shout-ish, wild, out of the world music videos with matching crazy song lyrics.

If I have to choose a favourite out of all their songs, this would be it. Sick sick lyrics with bloody gory mtvs. Perfect match.

Betty Curse - Excuse All the Blood

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSx2dbkHmD4

I've been listening to their songs during my walk back from the uni and it feels good listening to them~ Especially this song. Doesn't make sense but weirdly good to listen.

Betty Curse - Girl With Yellow Hair

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruM4ZcJi12U

This... dug up some memories. Haha. Happy.

Betty Curse - Do You Mind (If I Cry)

"...Do you care if i fell in despair..."

Betty Curse - God This Hurts

"Saw you holding hands with that girl in from of the cinema,
but you said she's your long lost cousin from Japan."

Some other songs that I like, like Dark Dark World, Don't Get Involved, The Look on Tony's Face, Rot in Heaven, was nasty. Catchy but nasty. haha...

Buried Local Talent KRU Edition.

Yes, there was once (or twice) KRU sang english songs... But sadly for us, it's been ages. Why must they concentrate in Malay songs? If they had more english songs, think they would be bigger now? Anyhoo, from all their videos, we can all see that they've came a long way... Being big shot celebrities and producers are not that bad also what...

KRU's For You.

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En17wPlmm1A

This is their new and improved Tyco. It was during that N*Sync era where 3D was not as developed, so mind the animation. I personally love this song... I initially thought it was from a foreign band.

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMnUiDTUPls

KRU - C'monlah --- <Ohh!!! and this is WAYYYYY COOOL!>

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4SCCytQs5w

Plus, they're totally humorous!! Charismatic... Yusry... and Norman and Edry ofcoz...

KRU: Terhangat di Pasaran.

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6Xa11ME9mg

And this song was so big that many people who doesn't really like malay songs heard of it.

KRU - Negatif

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNikNonGsck

KRU with Feminin as special appearance - Untukmu (a cappella)

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ2juiuSnHI

I think malaysians can do themselves a favor by listening to this song. Though it may not make a big difference, it might just open a up a narrow mind or two.

p/s: Yusry was cute and in fact, he is cuter now! How did he do that?

Friday, September 28, 2007

Just one of those things.

I always feel like that one or two days before going back to Sunway. I'll be going back with a heavy heart and a 5-fan-equipped CPU overflowing with sentimental value.

Location: @home, Ipoh.

Yup, like what is on my msn message, I AM drooling on my bro's pc. Boy, the speakers are RaWking! So much better than my RM 45 Altec Lansing that Tzu Ying, my ex-roommate went in and out, searched high and low in Pyramid and managed to snatch them at the cheapest price available there.

So, especially with bro gone, i feel like a vicious vulture herself, hovering over his very 'high-tech' desktop (coz almost all the parts inside has been changed, hell he even changed the cover/shell of the cpu) with all the parts he carefully selected and put together.

Yup, that definitely made me feel even worse using his pc and leaving Ipoh, although I'll be back some time soon.

But strangely, every time I'm in Ipoh, I feel as though I'm on vacation, seriously, like I can't get anything done. I just feel like slacking around. So in other words, being in Ipoh is kinda bad for my study.

Anyhoo, I bathed pipi twice this week. Haha, poor guy. Who ask him to stink so fast. He's damn adorable when I'm bathing him.

Anyways, back to packing!

Aww... I don't feel like going back... Why must I ??!!!

This Song told me WHY....

This is not the original Video though.

Movie Trunk Tenacious D's Pick Of Destiny.

Location: B12.3A, Sunway, Malaysia.

After watching the Pick of Destiny by non other than Tenacious D. It's really cheap film to produce actually. They don't need much material coz the characters are already really vibrant and amusing. After some really crappy craps I am able to link all the songs I have heard by them so far and that's pretty cool

What's cooler is I was able to understand what Tribute, their really famous song is all about.

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hh1uqa2keFQ

It's a tribute to the self proclaimed 'greatest song in the world'. What made it funny was it's not the 'greatest song' in the world, it's the tribute coz they 'couldn't remember'.

I was totally stunned to realise that what Tenacious D referred to as 'shiny demon' which shines was someone famous that I know... and more than often, heard of.

This Ugly, really disgusting looking 'demon'.

Ok, it's not personal but dude, the horn thing is not that 'hot' nowadays. Not only to say it's not working on you.

Hey, it does not pay to say the truth! So do you know who the shiny demon is?

Yes, Do You Know? Try Guessing Harder Now Maybe?

Another Shot at it?

Fine, I'll Spill already!!

Can You See it Now?

See The Resemblance?

Yes, I was Stunned too.
