IELTS -speaking test

Woke up really early this morning for the test... Lit was really hard on the books the last couple of days and I kinda felt pressured to do that too. lol. What would i do without him.

his session was at 9.10am while mine's 10.30am. maybe it was run alphabetically.  anyway, the test went alright I think.

Section 1 was about television.. I tried not to be too informal but went down that road anyway. The examiner's name was Matt? Doug? fuzzy on the details already. told him I liked Sci-Fi. he asked about how much do i watch. I said too much. he chuckled.

Section 2 was about a day off from uni/work.
I kinda rambled on and on about the stuff I would do... laundry, haircut. I really don't know about this.. I'm afraid I might came off as a little boring? THEN, i tried to make it more interesting by saying that I would not mind going for a picnic in the Shrine of rememberance. OMGGG. who DOES that? I really ran out of topics. OMG OMG.

Section 3 was all about me redeeming myself.
lol, at least that's what I felt I had to do. He asked me about work and do i think that people today work more than they do in the past. I COULD have said something like yes because the standard of living is higher and people want more goods and services... BUT i went with it depends on the context of the discussion. eg. in Malaysia yes... chip in more than 40 hrs but australia... 9-5pm is a norm.

all in all... it wasn't too bad i guess... just rambled a lot. hope it worked =S

After much frustration, I got a new laptop....

... without my parents for the first time.

and it was on sale too...

With $593.30, it comes with a sort of mixed feelings, and buyers remorse ofcourse. lol. Will blog when i figure things out.

Owh btw, had a good lunch with Justin. I thought it would be weird since Lydia had plans, but it turned out pretty alright. His life last year was right out of a daytime soap opera. Hope things will work out for him and his partner from then on =)

wow. finally Jun's-omg-totally-awesome-once-in-a-lifetime-turning-23rd-birthday-celebration-yay! week has passed and it PASSED by SO.FAST.

Well, I may have made it looked way more than what happened by the intentionally bimbotic name but really, I had a really nice day =)

I kinda unofficially took the week off, mentally. Was really fun floating in Lala land for a while...

Well, the day started unlike any other.

Waking up with the delicious fragrance of scrambled eggs was delightful! He went through the trouble of preparing continental breakfast which plated hash-brown (elegantly split into two while he was flipping it..), scrambled eggs, garlic bread and a slice of crispy ham. He even made mushroom soup to wash it all down with..

So after some washing up, making-up, waking-up and much dilly-dally, we finally left home to head to the city... for my LONG AWAITED massage~ yea! I bought a voucher online and R sweetly booked the massage session for me couple of days ago =) So I made him promise me nothing but zas for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sweet Sixteen marathon for the whole day under the sheets, among other things. Sweet Sixteen was chosen just because he really can't stand it. lol. Needless to say that didn't happen... we ended up having a movie night watching 3 Idiots with the bunch instead. It was a pretty nice way to end to day =)

Sticking to the story, we were supposed to head to this pizza place on Flinders Ln (because I went on and on about having pizzas)... We did go to Flinders Ln alright.. but to Yu-U! that restaurant that I've been CRAVING for since the research I did for his birthday a month ago! wanted to go there during Sarah's belated bday celeb but didn't work out. The place was fully booked. when we were there, we realized they don't need that many people to fill up the place. Not really business minded btw... they could have maximize the usage of space to have host more customers.

Anyways, all is well! The food was so so but it's the whole initial excitement of having your 'dreams' come true was amazing... lol. I'm actually pretty easily satisfied. The restaurant was empty when we went, at 12. lol. never so punctual. Ordered Salmon bento and pork bento.. the price was reasonable. $18/set considering the generous portion.. Lit ordered Jap Plum alcohol drink and hot sake. lol. The sake was a little too strong but the plum was alright.

Then we walked around the city all the while having Lit told me that he was craving for Koko Black. Was a tad uncharacteristic of him but didn't put too much thought into it... It was drizzling but not too cold. we trammed and walked a little to Vimala near Lygon by 2pm for my massage~ the massage was pretty awesome... but really, I still miss Arokaya in Sunway. lol. All the while the poor guy has to scout for public bench adjacent to a restaurant that has outdoor heater to get some heat in the cold winter's day... OMG... if only I know this would happen earlier, i wouldn't plan the massage that day.

After that, he seemed to be in a rush checking his phone and watch every other minute when we trammed to Bourke st... i KNOW something's up but lucky him, the thought of Koko Black's Ice Mocha was occupying must of my RAM at that moment...

When we were in Koko Black, he asked for a table for 3 while I gestured for 2.. which was weird but I was too busy and distracted by chocolates and drinking Ice Mocha in my head. after a while Cheer Ray showed up. Haven't seen her in AGES... being us, we always have something to catch up and chattering over tea (of ice mocha and ice-cream) was simply not enough.

It was getting dark around 5... so we headed back. Conveniently, kar kien 'TEXTED' R while we were in Myers for a toilet hunt, to ask if we want to join him, Jer and Ean for dinner in Glen. Suspiciously convenient... I didn't wanna spoil his plan and played along. What a good company I was =)

Ofcourse we went to La Porchetta!! Finally having zas~ lol. it's like having all my favorite food in ONE day! everyone was there... to name a few Jerr, Kar Kien, Joe, Saab, Lam, Marie, Nic Ng, Flo, Pei Chern, Chu Ian, Caryn, Ben, Jerm, Amanda and even Gracia, lol. Then some of us came back home for some green tea, Red Rock Deli (thanksss) and 3 Idiots... which R's been going on and on since Feb. Aamir Khan was pwetty cute I would say =)

Being 23rd now.. I would say is not where I would imagine myself to be 5 years back. But I'm taking it one day at a time. Felt deflated and pointless some times to doing what I am supposed to be doing. I love who I'm with, the company I keep but not really the situation. I would admit that circumstances could have been better but really... it's a struggle to psycho myself... which I'm not doing very well in. In this extremely conflicted state... often felt the urge to press the restart button sometimes...

Guess all I'm saying is... thanks for the motivation and your ways of pulling me back from the insane side of the mental scale... All my weird antics... eg. I can't stand re-wearing socks coz it's icky but don't like showers... because I don't like the cold feeling after showering, even with the heater on... and you have to admit, showering is quite a hassle and it's not like I don't like to be clean. lol. and yea... thanks for the wonderful birthday =))

hate to sound like a spoilt brat but really, I... rely too much on my camera to capture the moments of my life... it's like the only thing I've got to freeze frame my life. Not having a camera around is like not having a MP3/4 in gym... it's a little unnatural.

well, since this year's ammendment/redemption year, it's just another penny in the disappointment jar, no biggy. I really think by the end of this year, there'd be like a gazillion jars.

anyways, had my first day in Monash Club. It's pretty ok, compared to Monash Palace... actually, anything is better than Monash Palace. It's not about the workload, it's more of the people working there. less drama, less pressure...

no one's undermining anyone. Wait, that's not entirely true but the people there are friendly enough to put on a smiling face and not push you around too much.

This is literally the first time I'm working with aussies. It's not so different actually... everyone's a character of its own. There's Jeanine, who's engaged (or so I heard), Teena and Frank who tend the bars, there's Mirenda and Kishenda (erm, think I might have gotten their names wrong), Trever, James, Dana (this really lanky lady chef... who looked oddly enigmatic to me.)... lol. I can imagine why Iggy liked working there, apart of their awesomely REASONABLE wages.

and did I mention... constant saliva-stimulating FREE FOOD?

lol... like literally. Maybe it's a little too early to say but generally, people in restaurants here don't really give shit to the people running the restaurant, which was quite a shock to me really.

anyways, back to work. figuratively speaking... =)

Last Night in London.

Location: somwhere between Queensway station and Bayswater.

hmm, going home tomorrow! lol.. it's not like i'm complaining about the trip or anything.. it's jst that... it's a little tiring. the HORRIBLE time that the britishs picked to service/renovate its' Tube didn't help either..

I stumble all over Ldn and Paris.. basically throughout the trip with 4 humongous luggages with the average weight of 14kg each... that's excluding the hand carries which includes 2 notebooks and daddy's dvds and souvenirs. TERRIBLE I tell u!!

just today, we got back from paris to ldn and reached Luton around 3pm... We took a bus to Luton Airport Parkway or something lidat and then a train to St. Pancras... then walked all the way to King's Cross (and next door seemed like an understatement.. like everything in UK, the place was huge, King's Cross wasn't too small either.) and took train to baker's rd. To realise that the entrance that bro normally use is... *drum roll* CLOSED. from baker's Road, we walked to the opposite trail and took another train to Edgware. THEN... we had to walk around 5-10 minutes to another terminal to take a train to Bayswater, because apparently the Queensway station's closed... and the whole maintenance thing totally screwed up the whole Tube system...

HORRIBLE!! we walked here and there and everywhere... asked other people which, not surprisingly, the Tube's pretty confusing for the locals too... finally we found a train that goes to Wimbledon and got off at Bayswater station at around 5pm++....... zomg, luckily the Brits we met in our trips were actually quite nice, same goes to the French. they were quite sympathetic with our luggages and all... all in all this trip was ok... It's like backpacking.. except you do it with your family... and you stay in nicer-ish accommodations and have nicer-ish meals... but unlike backpacking, you can;t really seee what you want to... coz u're with ur family...

anyways....

i'll be back home in around 24 hours' time =)

yup, under the constant *and persistent* encouragements (and I use the term loosely... coz in some culture, they call it nagging endlessly...) from the companies I keep.... well more like kept =~~(

I'll be able to see Pipi in around 24 hours~~

It's my last day in ldn and I instead of crawling from pubs to pubs, experiencing the local culture... I spent it with my family crawling through the ditches.. i mean in the Tube stations... then to Whitley's and Tesco metro... how... fun... ... ...

Working Life?

omg... damn exhausted la wei... feet bengkak... eye swollen (coz didn't sleep laz night...) being a promoter for a day IS NOT FUN ok?!

anyhooo, Wai Tsin and I decided to take up this job as a promoter in SOGO for a Singapore company that just launched a new line of product in M'sia... it's nothing much la... that goes to the pay too... RM 80/day... 9:30am - 9:30pm, 2 hours break daily...

So, Tsin and I took a bus from Ipoh to Pudu at 7:30am and as usual (I'm prone to do that before any outing, as in staying over somewhere for more than 1 day), i couldn't sleep at all the night before...

As yesterday, Tsin called me after me buying the 8:30am ticket, saying that it would be ideal if we can reach Pudu by 10:00am, to settle down and stuff before the interview... I went back to the Plusliner counter to request for a change of ticket (from 8:30 to 7:30) but that biatch there at the counter said it would be alright that if we just show up to catch the bus early in the morning. Taking her word for it, I thought everything was settled but this morning, it turned out that the bus was FULL!

First things First... Happy belated bday Coca~~

So, updates on our family vacation plan... We are hovering between the ideas of 9 days Beijing trip and this 11 days Europe trip.

The pros are as follows...

9D Beijing Trip

1. Bro and I haven't been there before though mom and dad went there like 5-6 years ago. 2. Beijing's in a period of time where the buildings are still in very good conditions all thanks to the Olympics. 3. The tour agency we consulted, Keris, have this really attractive 3k++/pax, where, according to mom (and the brochure) , the food and accommodation provided will be pretty good. Coz they have this thing, this special offer upgrading the hotels to 5 star ones... 4. Mom, dad & Bro lurve stuff about chinese history and really eager in sharing/trying to influence me to lurve 'em too...

I'm actually quite ok with it... since it's a place that i haven't been to, and as long as my family's going together, i don't really mind where. However, dad's pretty disappointed as he had his heart fixed on going to Europe. We suggested places like Egypt and Turkey but he's not at the least keen... oh well...

11D Europe Trip
(south of france and italy)

1. all of us haven't been there before. 2. the currency's low now (due to the eco crisis and all...) so it's more worth it to go for vacation now than later when the economy recovers.

However, this trip doesn't include places like Paris and Germany, where I so wanna go... to check out the concentration camps, the remnants of Berlin Wall and stuff...
Besides, shopping wouldn't be as fun when the exchange rate's almost 1 to 5++. I heard that they sell an ice-cream for 1.5 euro in those tourist hotspots... mygawddddd!! so the expensive... and ice-cream's like one of the staple food for me... *sniff* *sniff*

Actually we wanted to go to this other Europe trip which included places like Paris, France, Switzerland and Germany, in other words, ideal for us but was canceled due to lack of people. In order for a trip to get the green light, there have to be atleast 16 participants and apparently around 7.5k for a 9days Europe trip is too expensive. So mommy's worried that this 11day trip, which cost about RM 9299/pax will have problem attracting people...

Anyhoooo, I finally curled my hair today with piggy.



Like... curled permanently, atleast for the next 2-3 months.

And I'm almost blonde now,,, Keyword: almost...

So, I was walking home after work today.. which is 7-ish. It's my first time walking home at this hour.


I've always noticed the wonderful textua... I mean of sunset inan texture (too much of textual analysis)... any place for that matter, I remember there was once when I woke up in the evening and got so overwhelmed by the 'yellow-orangeness' of the sunset in Ipoh that I start calling up my friends and ask them to look at the sky.


Boy, I can be a little nutty some times...


but Yes, I might just be high.

The sky was so gorgeously tainted... you can actually see the distinct blue,, purple-lish grey, brownish sky... and it's like one of those backgrounds you find in Kodak stores for people to take individual passport size pictures. This made the building looked so majestically cool!!


I got so excited that I looked like a crazy person, taking random pictures standing in the middle of the road, while the sky's starting to drizzle a bit...

Pre-Valentine's Clubbing.

It's the 8th day of Chinese New Year. It's very special coz it's what Chinese call the 'people's day' (ren re)... Chinese believe that today is everyone's birthday regardless of skin color, age etc., it's human race's Birthday.

Today's uber special coz not only the Easterner are feasting and celebrating, people all over the world's celebrating Valentine's Day, a day where love is (supposedly) celebrated and shared among you and your loved ones. To view the history of Valentine's Day you can either google it or click here... bla bla bla...

Anyhoo... went to Rum Jungle again today (which is my 5th time clubbing and 2nd time there in Rum Jungle~). With a buncha people (mostly Simon's friends' friends...), Simon, Christine (Simon's friend) , Zhao Xuan and Richard. Yes, I'm talking about that Richard Wong from Mrs. Ong's English tuition class that I attended since Standard 2 for 5 consecutive years. I owe it to her for my strong English background... If not for her, my English would be much much WORSE than my already really broken English.

Oh yea, before we went to Rum, Richard suggested that we (him, Adrian & I) have a get together for old time's sake. Since Zhao Xuan needed a ride, she joined us for a drink in Ipoh Garden East's Kopitiam (Like seriously, we've been there a LOT during this CNY coz most of them stay nearby and all... so to make things easier, Kopitiam became our 'Lao Di Fang' for our random but frequent spot to hangout).

About tonight... it started really slow... Coz Rum's quite empty around 11:30pm. Guess there's not many party animals in Ipoh, or, maybe it's not the 'it' spot for them to crash. Our initial plan was to go to Sincero, a club where many rich spoilt brats go to... Or so I heard (I haven't actually been there before seeing that I'm still new to this party scene). But it's Wednesday, not ladies' night nor is it a public holiday this Thursday, the dance floor was like Ipoh's Giant, really few patrons...

Rum wasn't any better at first. The band played but the response wasn't optimistic. There were just too many old (well, >38) people drinking beers there... but everything changed when there's this really hot Malay gal went and broke the ice. With a little help from the cute (but sadly short) DJ -- forgotten his name -- she set the dance floor on fire, figuratively speaking ofcoz. They should have known better that teens nowadays (atleast the few I know) are NOT into Techno anymore... It's soooooooo passe. I' feel like someone's smashing my head with a frying pan and bluring my vision whenever I hear em. Yes, I can truly say I hate techno. Say NO to Techno! <--- it even rhymes!

Anyways, it was pretty fun towards to end of the night... or morning... about 1:30am then coz I heard that the club's closing at 2am. Everyone warmed up, some of Simon's friends finally start to get into the mood. And Richard, totally unexpected, he's like oil to the already burning fire... A few of them were pretty sporting and that's kinda important I guess.

Any yea, forgot to mention, bro if you're reading this post, mom and dad welcomed a new member to our family... A spanking new Phillips 42' full HD LCD screen TV was hanged up on our cozy living room's wall at approximately 6:45pm yesterday evening. The old 29' TV was moved to mom and dad's office... just so that we don't dispose it. Compare to the 20kg++ Phillips 42' full HD LCD screen TV that old one is sooo freaking heavy. IMO, we got a really good bargain coz all the normal Full HD TV (from other brands like Sony and JVC...) are more than 10k while this baby's only about 6k (5999 to be exact). My 'Night-Life'

I'm actually sleeping in my bro's room these days... I know I know... Haven't been updating lately. Lazy... slacking.. blah blah...

Anyhoo, in the past week (since the first day of CNY) I can proudly pronounce that I HAVE a nightlife~ I'm not exactly sure how long it'll last, I'm pretty sure I won't be having this much fun after school starts.

As you know, a CAR is a great form of transportation so having a car = having a pair of Olympic running legs, which is fun and convenient enough for me to maneuver around Ipoh's hot spots. AND as you know, Ipoh's a pretty small place and the places where people from far and near gather. To sum it all up, there's only Green Town and Ipoh Garden East where youngsters like us hang around til the wee hours of the morning.

Seeing that I attended an all girls' school during my secondary school days, my parents are naturally conservative about the idea of ME, a girl, going out at 10:30pm... Surprisingly they were really calm about the whole thing about me reaching home at 4am ++. Dad didn't give me the look while mom only asked me to apologize to dad (coz he missed called me about 15 times when my handphone ran out of batt). And this abnormal situation freaked me out.

Although they didn't set any curfew, I tried not to cross the line today by reaching home before 2am. Hey, at least I made an effort ok?

I don't normally go to clubs and stuff... Yesterday was my 3rd time hitting the clubs and for an amateur like me, I find it extremely FUN~ It's not the beers that's important, instead we had so much fun coz the club was crowded but not packed and the songs were kinda... well, let's just say it's not as lame. I went with my primary schoolmates Simon, Tiffany, Wei Kei and Zhao Xuan, my partner in crime during my secondary school days.

Ipoh-nites must be familiar with Rum Jungle. If you don't know where is it, you're either living in the many many monastery in Ipoh for the past 100 years or you're just turning 7 years old this year. I've heard so much about this place and to finally go there with a buncha outgoing friends, I can honestly say it's the best (out of the 3) clubbing experience I've had in the past 19++ years.

About the club, it's good to have a dance floor where people can shake their boootiess. Other than being quite economical (RM 168 for 2 buckets of beer) the majority of party goers were under 35 (that's only my POV). Unlike SG8 (where the once famous disco, Shuttle 8 used to be) Rum's not invaded by those weird looking, drug taking uncles in their 50's, it's (what VJ always say) more Happening.

Well in my opinion, I think it all boils down to what company you went clubbing with (er, weird as it may sound, I'm not exactly used to the word 'clubbing'... I feel like I'm not a regular to use that word yet...). Zhao Xuan to get all crazy with and Simon, our rock. Just don't feel safe without him around.

I do wish to get more exposure. Doing the things that teens do today made me feel like a part of the youth community... Hope that this temporary nightlife of mine can prolong~ (though mom and dad won't be as thrilled about hearing this... hehe...)

p.s. Accidentally got Satisfaction and Diary of a Call Girl (where I'm sure that's where the producers of Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl for their 'inspiration'...). Differences are obvious. Apart from filmed+produced in different countries, Satisfaction has more drama while Diary of a Call Girl will appeal more to people who like Gossip Girl. Last Day of the Taiwan Trip~

Location: Jian Tan (Chien Tan), Taipei.

Hmm, this is my last night here. With all my 27kg++ of stuff spread evenly over the bed sheet, sitting here in the computer lab about 150m from the hostel with 7000 ntd spent asking myself

"HOW do I feel about these 20 days spent in Taiwan?" and "WHAT am I feeling right now knowing that I'll leave tomorrow?"

The fact is that I'm not gona be in Taiwan in the near future, say 5 years. It's been a really fun trip for me so far... If I were 16 when I joined this trip, I might not have enjoyed as much as I had these few days (though it would have been more ENJOYABLE if I brought enough money to spend there~).

It's kinda new for me, for starters, it's a study trip OVERSEA. Like far far away from home.

It's not Malaysia anymore. People don't speak Malay/Eng/Cantonese... People here speak Hokkien and mandarin, which made me feel so at home but at the same time, well aware that I'm standing on foreign soil. I can't screw up and hope that mom and dad will show up in a jiffy to sort things out for me. I don't know the taboos and traditions in that country... Though we are all Chinese (having tan skin and black hair) maybe it's the distance, the stark difference in culture is so obvious to ignore. Taiwanese mentality reminded me of the Japs.

Compare to them, I feel so inferior. Before the trip, the organizing committees gave long long speech telling us about the positive side of Taiwan. They ask us to take a neutral look at their culture, their tradition, their mentality, their way of life, etc. We can see that the people there take simple social benefits seriously. It might be that their DBI (Dewan Bandaraya Ipoh) people are more hard working, I see clean streets that I don't quite often see in our country.

Their achievement in recycling system in the cities were not taken as that "Recycling-Campaign-our-government-enforced-a-couple-years-back-and-never-heard-of-ever-since". They talk about recycling EVERYWHERE.

There's this one thing though, our study trip was organized by a very influential organization in Taiwan and the whole thing to is get some Malaysians between the ages of 16 - 26 over to Taiwan, promote Taiwan and hope that out of the 338 people the Taiwanese government sponsored, at least a quarter of them might attracted to come and study in Taiwan, work or at the very least, come to Taiwan again to contribute to Taiwan's industrialized economy in the future.

And because of that, I feel like we don't get the see the whole of Taiwan, and I don't mean physically. The scenery were totally mind-blowingly awesome but the whole presentation of the trip made me wonder what's behind the mask of majestic achievements of this newly industrialized country. In other words, the side of Taiwan that we saw was a really perfectly flawless Taiwan with an united nation leading harmonious life. But seriously we missed all the dramas of earthquakes, hurricanes, political rallies and all that jazz that Taiwan is famous for. In a way, the perfectly flawless Taiwan made it a really dull country to me, besides having sibeh many types of Chow Tau Fu man... Hehe...

Anyhoo, it's really fun to know 35 and more friends that I'll cherish and tons and TONS of pictures pictures to allow me to reminisce later in life~~

Charity begins at home, I don't know how literate it meant when the poet came up with this maxim, in my case, I'm sorta dragged into all of these. I was so reluctant to waste my days away curbed up in mom's office contributing my cheap labor (since I'm not rich) to mommy, daddy and friends' charity & recognition night, which has just ended successfully today.

Well, I gotta say, despite some avoidable setbacks, the whole thing went pretty well, better than expected actually. I spent more quality time with my parents and my parents' friends, which is good coz I can't find any better reason to do so.

Anyhoo, so what if I made a clown out of myself on stage in front of about 600++ people? So what if my feet is killing me while I stroll down the red carpet countless of times and those numerous times circling the venue, not to mention the many many times that I walked up and down and up and down the stage carrying out my duty as a cheap labor...

And today right... is MCR's concert!!! OMG!!! I SO WANNA GO!!! but in the name of charity (I don't really have anything much to give back to the society now) and not wanting to face the music when my parents try to strike my down with those fatal guilt... REALLY HEAVY guilt. At the end of the day, think this function would mean more to my parents than me to MCR. AND I felt happy being a part of a body which contributed more than 10k to the society~ (While if I go to MCR's concert, it'll only make US about 300 bucks richer...)

OK, back to whole point of this blog entry. Besides wanting to wish Nicole a very very very happy birthday today~ (gal's turning 19... And legal to get married btw~) I wanted to say that I'm going to Taiwan for 20 days!

It's sad to say hat I won't be online starting later today til the 31 of dec... It's like... the LONGEST time that I've stayed away from this modern commodity since form 1 in 2000!!! Internet... I'm so gona miss you... I miss you too IDon'tLikeYouThatWay.com...

Anyways, my mom is going all out to limit my spending and gave me just enough to eat shit and sleep and maybe shit somemore... so er, you know... since you guys who read this blog are my friends and all, and my friends are really considerate of her friends' financial status one right?? ekek...

And yea, this is my first time fleeing the country... oopps, I mean having vacation oversea without my family by my side, naturally, really gan cheong lor. Not scared la, since I said that I wanna accomplish as many 'first' as I can during this holiday (this is the 2nd or 3rd first. the 2nd first was to go to pasar malam 4 days in a week just coz I feel so guilty mom and dad didn't get to eat that really addictive fried sotong).
